Midsumma Festival has been held annually since 1988. Melbourne’s Queer community and friends come together for this joint, innovative celebration of queer arts and culture, presented over three weeks from mid-January to early February every year. It is a major attraction on the Victorian summer calendar.
Midsumma Festival continues to attract a broad and ever-evolving audience to Melbourne and Victoria. Each year over 160,000 individuals from around the global participate in this event.
Midsumma Festival brings a different of artists and performers together under a single umbrella for a passionate celebration and innovative presentation of queer arts and culture. The festival program is made up of a wide range of events and activities including visual art, theatre, spoken word, cabaret, film, live music, parties, sport, social events and public forums.
There are many opportunities for you to be involved, for example as a volunteer; as an event producer, artist or performer; as a stallholder or food vendor at Carnival; marching at Pride March; or being a spectator or participant in the diverse range of events held as part of the festival.
